PROPEL Center is partnering with Ponix to revolutionize climate-smart agriculture in Georgia. Ponix, a minority-owned AgTech startup, has been awarded a $5 million USDA grant to promote sustainable farming practices among minority and underserved farmers. This initiative aims to create a blueprint for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and tackling food insecurity. By leveraging Ponix’s innovative indoor hydroponic farming technology, the program will empower 24 minority and underserved farmers in Georgia to adopt sustainable practices, sell their produce, and participate in a new carbon credit marketplace.

Through the USDA's Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities program, PROPEL Center and Ponix are not only addressing environmental challenges but also providing vital agribusiness opportunities and internships for HBCU students. This collaboration highlights the importance of inclusivity and innovation in the agricultural sector, paving the way for a more sustainable and equitable future.
